Umbalite Garnets

Umbalite Garnet is a close relative of rhodolite garnet and typically displays a lighter, more purplish or pinkish hue than average rhodolite. It was first sourced from the Umba region of Tanzania, from which it takes its name. Since then, garnets with similar coloration have been found in other regions, and the term “Umbalite” is now used more generally for garnets exhibiting particularly appealing tones that are primarily in the pink-to-purple range although in some kinds of lighting some reddish can sometimes be seen also.
